Permit-Required Confined Space
A permit-required confined space is a work area that is large enough for a worker to enter and do a job, but is not designed for continuous occupancy and has limited ways to get in or out. What makes it 'permit-required' is the presence of one or more serious hazards, such as an atmosphere that could harm a worker, a material that could engulf or trap them, or another recognized safety risk.
